The famous Akroyd salmon fly - Version 1. This vintage river Dee strip-winged fly with its distinctive turkey feather wings and heron feather hackles, was created by Charles Akroyd of Duncraggie, Brora in the Scottish Highlands around 1878 and became commonly known as ‘The Akroyd’. This is the first design in a collection of three. The original flies were tied for C.Farlow and Co. Ltd in London. They are now much sought after collectors items that can bring high prices at auction. We were honoured to be asked to photograph and reproduce the flies on this mug designed for salmon anglers who appreciate this historic pattern.
